Missing 11-year-old girl found safe

GAINESVILLE, Fla. — The Gainesville Police Department says they have found Jahnia Fisher safe, and she is with family members.

Police are in contact with Jahnia's father, Jamar Fisher. Police have information that leads them to believe Jahnia's disappearance may have been a custody issue that was not revealed to law enforcement.

A missing child alert was issued early Saturday morning for 11-year-old Jahnia Fisher, who was last seen in Gainesville.

Police say Jahnia is from Georgia and was visiting her grandmother when her father showed up in a red Mercedes. Police said Fisher got into an argument with Jahnia's mother and he ended up taking the girl. According to police, Fisher then made threats via text message saying he would kill both Jahnia and her mother.

Police said more information will be released when they obtain it.
