A local mother is demanding answers after she said her 6-year-old child was exposed to porn inside his first-grade classroom at Browning Pearce Elementary School.
The mother spoke only to Action News Jax’s Courtney Cole, telling her the first-grade student showed the porn to at least four of their other classmates.
She said her son just told her about the most recent incident over spring break, but says she’s now learned it’s been happening since the beginning of the school year.
“My son used to have an innocent mind and now every day, I’m getting on to him. He is emotional because he’s not understanding what he’s getting in trouble for.”
“He was trying to get him [his 4-year-old brother] to do re-enactments of things he saw on these videos.” We’ll tell you what one mother says her 1st grade child saw inside a classroom that has taken his innocence away...on @ActionNewsJax at 5. pic.twitter.com/UcqCQJSGKa

The mother of a first-grader in Browning Pearce Elementary School in Putnam County told Action News Jax one of his classmates showed her 6-year-old son pornographic videos on his cellphone.
“He told me that he’s seen two naked girls in bed together kissing. Then there was another time—I don’t know how much I can say here—but he said that….um...there was a girl jumping up and down on a man’s privates while they’re naked."
Shortly after the incident, she says her 6-year-old son tried to get his 4-year-old brother to re-enact it.
She asked to remain anonymous to protect her son from being bullied.
The mother said she talked to the principal about it, but she feels like they just brushed her off.
“She told us it was a very common thing for kids in elementary school to be looking up porn videos. “
The mother of the first-grade student, along with his stepmother, then went to a school board member who allegedly told her the same thing.
“I feel like the teacher should notify the parents or the principal should notify —they didn’t want to tell anybody. They wanted to keep this hush-hush.”

The mother told me they have removed her son from the classroom where this incident happened, but she says he still sees the children during other parts of the school day.
She would like for her son to see the school’s therapist, but says he hasn’t been allowed.
Action News Jax’s Courtney Cole reached out the Putnam County School District and received this response from Superintendent, Rick Surrency:
"The school is aware of the situation and has dealt with discipline as per the district's code of conduct."
