ATLANTA — The mother of the boy who was mauled to death by two dogs while walking to the bus stop talked to Channel 2 Action News for the first time.
The boy who died was identified as Logan Braatz, 6. The injured girl, identified as Syari Sanders, was listed as stable at a local hospital.
The attack happened around 7:30 a.m. Tuesday on Cerro Street, while the children were walking to F.L. Stanton Elementary School.
A neighbor detailed the moment neighbors rushed to save three children during the attack.
"I run up on the girl. She had been mauled very badly,” said neighbor Angie Smith. "I ran to the baby, and when I looked down at her, I knew there was nothing that I could do."

Logan's mother told Channel 2’s Sophia Choi she wants something done about dogs roaming free -- And now, the city is taking action.
Angelica Braatz couldn't hold back her tears as she told Choi about her son and the last thing he said to her as he headed off for the school bus stop.
“I love you mommy, I'll see you after school,” Braatz said.
But Logan never even made it to school.
On Tuesday, two dogs attacked and killed him.
The dogs also attacked Sanders. She's still recovering at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta-Egleston.
“This is not something that families should have to go through, because irresponsible dog owners can't keep a hold of their animals?” Braatz asked.
Wednesday, the man who owns the dogs faced a judge.
Cameron Tucker remained silent, as a judge gave him a bond of $70,000 for reckless conduct and an upgraded charge of involuntary manslaughter.
His attorney says the dogs accidentally got out.
“He's shocked and saddened,” the attorney said.
Logan's family wants stronger laws to protect people from vicious dogs on the loose.
City Councilwoman Kiesha Lance Bottoms is now proposing just that.
“Are there restrictions like you can't own a certain type dog near a bus stop or a school, or if we can't place those restrictions, can we require you to have a fence?” Bottoms said.
“Just watch your animals,” Braatz said.
Logan's family says they need help with funeral costs.
The family has created a You Caring page where you can donate.
