According to a Facebook post, multiple agencies are involved in the ongoing search: St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office, Florida Fish and Wildlife, and the U.S. Coast Guard.

Fire rescue officials say they are looking for a Hispanic male in his early to mid-20s wearing black swim trunks.

Officials say the 911 call came in around 1:45 p.m. from family members after the man had been missing in the water for 20 minutes.

Officials are using jet skis and choppers to look for the man.

St. Johns County Fire Rescue PIO Chris Naff urges everyone to stay out of the water due to a high rip current risk.

“Stay out of the water... The water with the rip currents is super dangerous right now. I know it’s a beautiful day out and everyone wants to come to the beach but stay out of the water and enjoy it from a distance,” Naff said.

It is also after lifeguard season which means there are patrollers instead of lifeguard towers.
