NASSAU COUNTY, Fla. — UPDATE, 6/17/2021: The body found in a Callahan pond is that of a man who was reported missing on Monday, June 14, the Nassau County Sheriff’s Office confirmed.
The Sheriff’s Office first posted on Facebook about 35-year-old Carl William Newsome’s disappearance on Tuesday, June 15.
Newsome was last seen on the Sunday, June 13 around 5 a.m. before leaving for work, the Sheriff’s Office said.

Deputies are investigating after the body of a man was found in a pond Wednesday morning.
The Nassau County Sheriff’s Office says they received a call around 9 a.m. from someone who saw the body floating in the water near Bethel Church Road.

The NCSO dive team responded and removed the body from the pond.
The sheriff’s office said it appears the body may have been there for a few days.
