CALLAHAN, Fla. — It’s been one year since a Nassau County mother mysteriously vanished.
Melissa Bodden was reported missing Christmas Day 2019. Friends and family said the last time they saw or heard from Bodden was Dec. 19.
Melissa Durham is a close friend of Bodden and said not a day goes by when she doesn’t think of her.
”It’s just been really hard,” Durham said. She doesn’t want her friend forgotten.
Friends like Erika Dent said Bodden would never abandon her family, which is why they believe she’s in danger.
”Something had to have happened to her because she wouldn’t just up and leave her family,” Dent said.
The Nassau County Sheriff’s Office stated it’s working with the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office to investigate what happened to Bodden.
Action News Jax told you Bodden’s boyfriend, Jerry Salis, was arrested on unrelated charges the day before she was reported missing.
With no new information, hope is thin.
”I just think it’s crazy she went missing without a trace, and there’s nothing. Like, how do you just disappear?” Durham said.
Durham said they won’t stop pushing for answers until she’s found.
“I’m not giving up on Melissa,” Durham said. “I want just for my friend.”
Durham said someone out there knows something and she’s pleading with that person to speak up.
”It’s Christmas...give the ultimate gift — peace of mind for a family,” Durham said. “If you know something, please come forward.”
”Friends said they hope getting Bodden’s story back in the spotlight could jog someone’s memory. They said even the smallest information might help lead to a break in the case.
