NASSAU COUNTY, Fla. — Eight dogs, seven cats, four horses, two donkeys, one alpaca, three mini horses, and one ring-tailed lemur were overloaded in a single trailer.
The Nassau County Animal Services received a call from the Department of Agriculture about a pickup truck and trailer that was stopped at a weigh station with expired tags.
When animal services arrived, they found the 26 animals loaded in the trailer.
The Department of Agriculture tells Action News Jax that the trailer was so overloaded that one of the donkeys was lying down and trampled.
The animals were taken to animal services, where they were checked by inspectors and veterinarians.
The animals will remain at the Nassau County Animal Service facility until the Department of Agriculture releases them.
Loren Jean McCutcheon is facing ten counts of animal cruelty.
