The local teen accused of murdering his own grandmother could be back in Jacksonville as early as Monday.
Prosecutors said Logan Mott, 15, stabbed and shot Kristina French, 53, before he was arrested near the Canadian border.
Action News Jax crime and safety expert Ken Jefferson said Mott will likely be flown in from New York.
“They’ll shackle him, both hands and feet, and they’ll have an officer with him at all times,” Jefferson said.
Jefferson said from there, Mott will be taken to a juvenile facility or a juvenile holding center within the Duval County Jail.
Action News Jax asked the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office about the process, and a representative said, “We do not talk about the transportation of inmates for security purposes.”
“They’ll be very discreet with how he’s handled from this point on once he becomes their property,” Jefferson said.
On the phone, Logan Mott's mom said she isn't even being told when her son is being moved.
"I think he's scared regardless," Carrie Mott said. "He's never had to go through anything like this ever before. He's never been arrested or been in trouble like that, so just going through this -- is I think the hardest thing in the world as a parent is watching your child be shackled and brought into a courtroom and be accused of murder."
As soon as Action News Jax learns that Mott is back in the area, we’ll bring that news to you.
