In newly obtained dashcam footage captured by the sand truck that crashed into the store, it appears the truck had a green light as it approached the intersection of West Beaver and Cahoon. That’s when a red sedan pulled out into the intersection, right into the path of the truck, sending it on a collision course with Bennett’s Ace Hardware.
Many on social media have credited the quick action of a good Samaritan who lives near the shop for helping rescue the victims.

“We heard a loud bang and I looked up and sawdust. I was like, ‘Let’s go check that out and make sure everyone is okay,’” he said. “When we came around the corner, there’s probably 10 to 15 people just standing there with their phones out recording.”
Action News Jax has learned the truck may be removed from the storefront at some point today, but the building has been condemned and declared a total loss.
