A New Jersey-based toy manufacturing company has chosen to move its business down to Jaxport.
The company, referred to by the city of Jacksonville as “Project Buckeye,” chose Jacksonville over Tampa for a new distribution center.
The company is expected to bring in 21 high-wage jobs.
Vincent Cameron of the International Longshoresmen Association says the ongoing dredging of the St. Johns River is likely enticing companies to relocate here.
“Jacksonville now becomes one of the major players, and that’s why you see the warehousing and all this blowing up all over the city,” he said. “It’s in preparation for things to come.”
