New signs of more homeless camps pop up in St. Johns County

New signs of more homeless camps are popping up in St. Johns County.
In November, St. Augustine’s mayor told Action News Jax there is not enough resources to help the homeless population.
Action News Jax reporter Courtney Cole is pushing for answers about what’s being done with these camps.
St. Johns County told Cole they're working to get information about each site and what's being done about them.
Clothes. Tents. Shoes. Garbage.
This is what's left behind at a number of newly discovered homeless camps in St. Augustine and St. Johns County.
Evelyn Hammock shared a post on Facebook, with more than 28 pictures of a handful of different homeless camp sites.
More than 100 people have commented and it's been shared more than two dozen times.
Hammock gave Action News Jax permission to use them, because she wants to see something done about the sites.
One of the homeless camps is located right behind a popular Applebees on State Road 312.
Action News Jax Courtney Cole spoke to one Applebee's employee, off-camera.
She told Cole she's fine with the camp being there—she just wants it to be a little neater.
St. Augustine Mayor Nancy Shaver told Cole there are at least 35-40 homeless camps in and around St. Augustine.
Homeless camps on private property can be a challenge for the city and county.
That’s because, according to mayor Shaver it’s not illegal to camp on private property.
And it's up to the owner of that property to determine if they can stay.

When Action News Jax learns the status of the homeless camps, we will bring you the update.
