JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office reported a fatal motorcycle crash early Sunday morning on 1300 Airport Service Rd. S.
STORY: Clay County fair worker stuck between two pieces of ride attempting good deed
At approximately 12:50 a.m., a pickup truck and an SUV were traveling eastbound on Airport Service Rd. At the same time, a touring-style motorcycle was traveling westbound on the same road. The pickup truck attempted to turn left to get onto the main portion of the road, causing the motorcycle to hit the truck and be redirected into the SUV.
The motorcyclist was transported to a local hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries. Florida Highway Patrol report says the rider was wearing a helmet. No one else was transported from the scene.

JSO’s Homicide Crime Unit is conducting an investigation and is looking into whether speed, alcohol or distracted driving contributed to the cause of the crash.
This incident marks the 58th traffic fatality in Duval County this year, and the 15th motorcycle fatality.
