ORANGE PARK — A 33-year-old Orange Park man is dead after being hit by a car around 2 a.m. on Blanding Boulevard at Wells Road, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
Troopers said the driver of a silver Honda Civic was heading southbound on Blanding when they hit the pedestrian as he ran across the road. According to the FHP report, the 29-year-old driver saw the man and tried to avoid hitting him. The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene.
All southbound lanes were blocked overnight while FHP investigated.
