Jury recommends life without parole for Lance Kirkpatrick

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A jury on Friday afternoon recommended that a handyman found guilty of murdering a local firefighter's wife serve life in prison without parole.

That same jury on Wednesday found Lance Kirkpatrick guilty of murdering Kim Dorsey. The judge will make the final decision May 15.

Dorsey was found dead inside her home in October 2012. Police said she was stabbed and hit with a blunt object.

The state suggested to the jury that Kirkpatrick be sentenced to the death penalty.

The defense is asking that he not get the death penalty. The defense said he has potential for life when he is off drugs.
