Plane suffers landing gear malfunction at St. Augustine Airport

The St. Johns County Sheriff's Office confirmed with Action News Jax that a small plane suffered a landing gear malfunction during a landing at the St. Augustine Airport Thursday.

According to deputies a student and instructor from a local flight school were returning from a flight when the malfunction occurred, resulting in a "hard landing on its belly."

The plane slid about 70 feet down the runway when it made the hard landing, but deputies said that the student and instructor didn't sustain any injuries.
