JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A fight between two high school girls on social media led to the death of a 19-year-old man on January 26.
Police reports that this social media conflict led to a fight on Ken Knight Drive. Over 100 people showed up to participate or to witness the fight according to police. Violence broke out and a 19-year-old man was shot.
Police say that they have been going through an extensive evidence collection process with hours of video on social media to many witness interviews. However, Director Mike Bruno noted that there is still information they need from the people who have not talked to police.
“I have to believe that at least one person that attended the fight on Ken Knight Drive is responsible enough to be able to provide us with the information that we need,” Bruno said. “We didn’t get the call until the gunfire broke out and we had a deceased person, but we certainly need that information now to help us with this investigation.”
