Police: Drunken woman nearly hits officers, urinates in front of patrol car

Police say Rashanda Horsely, 29, swerved across the center line on River Road in Lawrenceville, nearly hitting a police officer head on.

GWINNETT COUNTY, Ga. — Police arrested a Gwinnett County woman they said was driving drunk with her children in the car when she nearly hit a police car head-on.

"I'm a mother, these are my grandchildren. Yes, I was very upset," Robin Horsely told Channel 2's Kerry Kavanaugh.

Horsely said she was shocked and heartbroken when a Gwinnett County police officer came to her door early Sunday morning.

They asked her to pick up her grandchildren after her daughter was arrested for allegedly driving drunk with her 7- and 4-year-old in the backseat. The children were not hurt.

Police say Rashanda Horsely, 29, swerved across the centerline on River Road in Lawrenceville, nearly hitting a police officer head-on.

"There was another passenger in the car who was not drunk, but she, the driver herself, was pretty belligerent, and boisterous and seemed to be intoxicated," said Cpl. Jake Smith, with the Gwinnett County Police Department.

The male passenger, according to police, had his gun on the arm rest of the door, which is not against any law.

Police said Rashanda Horsely was hysterical, crying and couldn't find her license. Police said she only made matters worse.

"At one point when the officer pulled her out the car for further investigation, she actually urinated in the middle of the street in front of the officer's patrol car," Smith said.

Robin Horsely said she's grateful officers stopped her before something worse happened.

"I said, 'Thank God,' because a lot of things in life can happen," Robin Horsely said.

Robin Horseley said they had a sudden death in the family and that perhaps her daughter drank too much as a result.

"I guess it took a toll on her, but that's no way to deal with it," Robin Horsely said.

Police charged Rashanda Horsely with reckless conduct, DUI and DUI child endangerment.
