Police investigating death of baby girl in Jacksonville

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office is investigating after a 20-month-old baby died of undetermined circumstances early Tuesday.

According to detectives, just a little after midnight, the baby girl was taken to the hospital by one of her parents. Hospital staff attempted lifesaving measures, but they were unsuccessful. The child was pronounced deceased at the hospital.

Both parents and the baby’s siblings, who were in the car that came to the hospital, are being questioned and cooperating with police. Detectives are still working to determine which house the child was transported from, as the parents are separated, but they believe a house on East 14th Street is linked to the case.

The medical examiner will conduct an autopsy this morning. DCF is also assisting in investigations.
