Police officers make first hurricane rescue, saving puppy

FORT PIERCE, Fla. — Fort Pierce police officers, Officer Martin Ortiz and Officer Michel Jean, were on duty awaiting the arrival of Hurricane Dorian when they received a call about a resident who reported she was unable to care for a puppy, Fort Pierce police posted on Facebook.

The puppy is only six weeks old and is too young to be left in a shelter cage until the storm passes. Officer Jean took an immediate liking to the pup, called his wife and showed her and the rest of the family the puppy via FaceTime.

Officer Jean's family reportedly fell in love with the cute four-legged puppy and decided that they would keep her. The puppy will be known as Dory, short for Dorian.
