The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office said one woman was killed in an apartment complex on the 3500 block of Townsend Boulevard.
Police said they responded to a call at about 2 p.m. at Townsend Apartment Homes and found two "slashing" victims, one of which had died before they arrived.
The surviving woman had severe injuries and was taken to a nearby hospital, officials said. Her condition has not been released
This is an ongoing investigation. Police do not have a suspect description at this time, and ask anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers at (866) 845-TIPS (8477).
