Police search for suspect in Jacksonville laundromat shooting

Police are looking for a man they say fired several shots in front of a crowded laundromat Thursday night.

This happened at Wilson Laundry on Wilson Boulevard. That Jacksonville Sheriff's Office reported that the shooting happened during an attempted robbery, but no one was hit.

The report lists multiple witnesses are l, one of them named Shaun Morgan.

"I went to wash clothes and dry clothes at the laundromat last night. Twenty minutes after being there, I heard a gunshot go off 30 feet next to me," Morgan said.

Morgan said two men pulled up in a dark burgundy sedan, got into another car, and then there was a struggle before the shooting.

"Next thing you know, they're outside the car fighting, fighting over the gun. The gun is waving at the laundromat and everyone else," Morgan said.

Morgan said he has a concealed-weapon permit and grabbed his gun trying to scare the 2 men away from the parking lot.

"I hopped over the car and told them that they need to go so they don't hurt nobody, no innocent people," said Morgan.

According to the report, JSO responded just before 11p.m.

Witnesses said one of the men drove off in the sedan and the other man ran.

"Here in Jacksonville, it's becoming more common," says Morgan.

We spoke to employees at the laundromat and the convenience store next door. They tell us that detectives collected surveillance video of the incident.
