Officials release 911 call in death of Jacksonville woman who fell from truck

UPDATE: 6:15 a.m. Thursday:

Jane Twist Hixson posted on Facebook Wednesday about Megan Twist's organ donation:

When I heard the news of the success of the organ transplants my sorrow became so heavy and so utterly overwhelming. Megan has been gone for 24 hours but it just feels so final now. When we left her yesterday her heart was still beating and her chest was moving up and down, albeit only with the help of the machines. Her soul was gone but her body was still "alive".  We could kiss her face and hold her hands and rub her feet. But now....now I have no access to her. One of the greatest times of my life was last night in the ICU before she was "gone". It was just the four sisters. Hanging out for a couple hours. Laughing, chatting, re telling stories that had been told a thousand times, and, of course, crying. It was our final time together. Just the four of us. The way it is supposed to be. The way it will never be again. She literally saved 5 people's lives today. How many people do you know that saved 5 people's life in one day at the age of 23?  I know one. My sister. My Meg. My hero.

UPDATE: 3 p.m.  Wednesday: The father of Robert Wiltfang, the boyfriend of Megan Twist, says her death as a "horrific accident" and that his son is "inconsolable." Police say Wiltfang stayed at the scene after Twist fell from the truck and struck her head.

Police said that Twist was riding on the side of Wiltfang's truck and fell and hit concrete. Police said Wilfang was not being looked at as a suspect but they have not ruled out alcohol as a factor.

Wiltfang's blood was taken at the scene to be tested.

UPDATE: 12:01 p.m. Wednesday: Megan Twist, the 23-year-old Jacksonville woman killed when she fell out of a truck last week, was an organ donor. The procedure was reportedly scheduled for Wednesday afternoon.

UPDATE: 11 a.m. Wednesday: A 911 call from a witness at the scene has been released (transcript below).

"I’ll let her boyfriend talk to you he knows more about what’s going on I just wanted to call someone so an ambulance could be on the way," the caller said.

Wiltfang never came on the line during the 911 call.

Tuesday, Nov. 28: Police searching for two people who assisted Twist

The Brunswick Police Department is searching for two good Samaritans who helped a Jacksonville woman who possibly fell from a vehicle over the weekend.

Police responded just before 7 p.m. Saturday to the 1400 block of Reynolds Street, where they found 23-year-old Megan Twist of Jacksonville on the ground unconscious.

Police also found a woman and a man trying to help Twist, according to a BPD release.

Twist was taken to Southeast Georgia Health Systems and later taken by air to UF Health Jacksonville, where she died Monday night.

Police believe Twist fell from her boyfriend's truck. Her boyfriend, 25-year-old Richard Wiltfang of Jacksonville, was arrested and charged with obstruction.

Twist's sister Jane Twist Hixon told Action News Jax the charge comes from Wiltfang not cooperating at the scene.

Police said there is a possibility Wiltfang could face further charges.

"It's still early on in the investigation and we're trying to ascertain whether it was an accident or whether something else took place, so investigators are working very hard to determine that before rushing to judgment to make an arrest," BPD Capt. Angela Smith said.

Jane Twist Hixon said she had just told her kids they had lost their aunt.

Action News Jax asked Jane Twist Hixon about what happened Saturday night as police say Twist was riding outside her boyfriend's truck.

"Regardless of what happened, in some way, shape or form, it was his fault. We don't hate him, aren't seeking revenge. We just want to know what happened to our sister," Jane Twist Hixon said.

Wiltfang's father told Action News Jax that Megan Twist's death was a "horrific accident" and his son is "inconsolable."

Police are seeking the man and the woman who stopped to help Twist, as they may have witnessed the incident. Anyone with any information is asked to call Sgt. Jose Galdamez at 912-279-2650.

Deputies say alcohol could be a factor. The investigation is ongoing.

Client Focused Media released a statement:

"It was a shock to us all to learn about Megan's passing. She was such a sweet and wonderful person who made an impact on all of us. Our thoughts and prayers are with Megan's family."

A GoFundMe page has been set up for Twist. Click here to learn more about it.
