DUVAL COUNTY, Fla. — Police are searching for the man accused of being a serial tire-slasher in historic Springfield.
Residents in the area said somebody needs to catch the man, who was caught on surveillance video at an auto shop slashing the tires of every vehicle in his path.
The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office said the man targeted about 18 vehicles, many of which were at the AA Auto Repair Shop.
The manager said slashing tires is no easy task because you have to hit a certain spot so this suspect knew what he was doing.
Action News obtained this surveillance video of the culprit in the incident. At just before 3:30 a.m. on Wednesday the man walks around the auto shop for two minutes slashing tires of every vehicle he comes across.
“He needs to really pay for this. He won't pay for it financially, I know. But really, he hurt a lot of people,” said Mike Al-Abd, shop owner. “Somebody needs to stop this guy. I hope it will never happen again.”
Kim Pryor said the Neighborhood Watch is considering adding cameras to try and catch this man. They've also organized a team of bike rides to try to keep the community safe with the culprit still out there.

“I do not recognize him at all,” said Pryor. “What I do know is he doesn't appear to be in any distress. He appears clean, he appears that he knows exactly what he's doing, and that's kind of scary.”
Anyone who has any information regarding the incident is asked to contact Crime Stoppers at 866-845-TIPS. You can remain anonymous and receive a possible reward of up to $3,000.
