PUTNAM COUNTY, Fla. — There’s a new fire rescue chief in Putnam County.

With the retirement of Chief Chad Hutchinson, Putnam County Fire Rescue has been searching for a new leader.
Well, the time has come. Deputy Chief Richard Back has been promoted to chief of Putnam County Fire Rescue.
Back has been part of the fire service for 36 years. He started with Putnam County Fire Rescue back in 2006 as a part-time employee.

Since then, Back has risen through the ranks as a firefighter/EMT, firefighter/paramedic, lieutenant, captain, deputy chief and now chief of fire/rescue.
