PALATKA, Fla. — A man was shot in Putnam County and police said they believe the shooter is on the loose.
Putnam County Fire and Rescue confirmed they responded to a 911 call about a shooting Sunday afternoon.
Officials were dispatched to the Dollar General store on Highway 19 at Peniel Road. An employee at the Dollar General said the victim was dropped off after being shot.
The male victim was transported to the Putnam Community Medical Center landing pad where a helicopter flew the victim to Gainesville, Florida. Officials said the victim was conscious when taken to a hospital.
Putnam County Sheriff Gator DeLoach confirmed the department’s investigation of a shooting Sunday near Horseman Club Road near Silverlake Drive in Palatka, Florida.
Officers are looking for a suspect in the shooting but did not release a description.
Officials said the victim was in stable condition.
