Police: 2 guns, 1 loaded, found inside 13-year-old’s backpack at middle school

PUTNAM COUNTY, Fla. — Jenkins Middle School is on modified lockdown after two guns were found in a 13-year-old’s backpack on campus Tuesday, according to the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office. Knives were also located within the backpack.

Police were able to secure the guns, one of which was loaded, PCSO says.

All students, faculty and staff are safe.

No students will be released early, and an investigation is ongoing, police say.
