Railroad bridge stuck down, affecting some St. Johns River boat traffic

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The Florida East Coast Railway bridge in downtown Jacksonville is stuck in the down position and is affecting some boat traffic on the St. Johns River.

The part needed to fix the bridge arrived Tuesday, and FECR estimates the bridge should be operating properly again by Friday.

The Coast Guard said in the meantime it has put out a bulletin to mariners.

FECR said the bridge being broken is only affecting large-boat traffic, as small boats can still go under the bridge and trains can still cross the bridge.
