A water park and an amusement park at a 312-room hotel, that’s the vision of the new buyer of the Berkman Plaza II, according to published reports.
Denny Dawson who lives next door at The Plaza condominiums says it’s been a long time coming, more than 10 years to be exact.
“About time of course,” said Dawson.
It was nothing but smiles when we asked people who live and work near the Berkman Plaza II about the new plans for redevelopment.

Plans also include more parking, restaurants, and now bars.
“I mean it sounds great because it’s definitely an eyesore,” said local realtor Jan Wieland.
Back in February Action News Jax showed you how the NFL requires 19,000 hotel rooms to be considered for a Super Bowl.
Plans for the new and improved Berkman Plaza II are slowly moving the needle in the right direction.
For now, those like Dawson, have something to look forward to.
“I think it’s a great step forward what an eye sore it has been so all of Jacksonville will benefit,” said Dawson.
