JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — Your health and safety are the reasons we go out every week to get you information about the places you love to eat.
In this week's original Restaurant Report, Action News Jax's Ben Becker tells us about violations inspectors found at local restaurants.
Becker visited Domu, located in the Town Center area, and spoke to the manager about their recent inspection. State inspectors cited the restaurant because:
- A mold-like substance on an ice machine
- There was an employee using a handwash sink as a dump sink
- Potentially hazardous food temperatures
After showing management the inspection report, Becker asked, "When you look at that, what do you think?" "We are correcting them right away," the manager said.
Inspectors also found violations at another Town Center area restaurant: Grub's Burger Bar.
It was cited for:
- An employee touching ready-to-eat food with their bare hands
- Potentially hazardous food temperatures
- An oven with an accumulation of grease
The McDonald's on Merrill Road near Townsend Boulevard had the following violations, causing them to temporarily close:
- Seven live roaches
- Live small flying insects
- Potentially hazardous food temperatures
Inspectors found the following at Bono's Pit Bar-B-Q on Bartram Park Boulevard near Old St. Augustine Road:
- Potentially hazardous food temperatures
- Water leaking from a pipe
- No soap provided at a handwash sink
All the restaurant mentioned have passed follow-up inspections.
