Restaurant Report: La NoPalera Mexican Restaurant cited by health inspector

NOW PLAYING ABOVE

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A restaurant was shut down this week and it was on the restaurant report earlier this year.

India House on Baymeadows Road was shut down for having more than 10 live roaches and dead roaches. The health inspector noticed that the air conditioning unit was held up by cans. It was temporarily shut down, but allowed to reopen after its follow-up inspection.

A health inspector visited La NoPalera Mexican Restaurant on Crosshill Boulevard. The health inspector noticed live flies in the kitchen, they didn’t see proper parasite destruction documentation for the fish in the ceviche and the cook didn’t wash their hands long enough before prepping food. A follow-up inspection is required.

At Checkers on Kings Road, a health inspector saw a live fly in the kitchen, noted food temperature violations for tomatoes, lettuce and onions and noticed a chemical stored too close to a food prep item. It met inspection requirements because everything was fixed at the time of the inspection.
