FLORENCE, S.C. — If you’re headed on a road trip north on Interstate 95 any time soon, you’ll be able to stop at the “world’s cleanest bathrooms” at the first-ever Buc-ee’s in South Carolina.

The mega-gas station will open its newest travel center in Florence, South Carolina at 3390 North Williston Road, on the northeast corner of I-95 and North Williston Road on Monday, May 16. Doors will open at 6 a.m. and a ribbon-cutting ceremony will happen at 10 a.m., according to a news release.

It’s about a four-and-a-half hour drive from Jacksonville. Thrillist named the chain America’s best pit stop in April 2017.

Locals have had the chance to experience the cult like following that comes along with the beaver nuggets, brisket and homemade fudge: the first Buc-ee’s in Florida opened in St. Augustine at I-95 and International Golf Parkway in February 2021. The following month, the second Buc-ee’s in Florida opened just about an hour south off I-95 and LPGA Boulevard in Daytona Beach.

Buc-ee’s, which was founded in Texas, now has 35 locations in the Lone Star State. The chain began branching out to other states in 2019 and has also opened two travel centers in Alabama and two in Georgia, in addition to the two Florida locations.

The Florence, South Carolina location will have plenty of places to fuel up, with 120 gas pumps.

According to the news release, Buc-ee’s Florence will bring 175 new, permanent, full-time jobs to that area with starting pay beginning well above minimum wage, full benefits, a 6% matching 401(k) and three weeks of paid vacation.
