Scam targets Navy Federal Credit Union customers

LOCAL: Photos: Jacksonville-based Carnival Elation gets multi-million-dollar makeover

Georgia officials are warning people about scammers targeting Navy Federal Credit Union customers.

Camden County Sheriff's Office posted the warning on Facebook Thursday.

Agency officials said a Citizens on Patrol member reported that he received correspondence that appeared to come from Navy Federal Credit Union.

The message said: "You have received a monetary gift that will be added to your Navy Credit Union account by confirming acceptance. You just have to click on the confirmation bar."

Navy Federal Credit Union officials told him there was no such gift or rewards program.

Officials say if you receive correspondence promising a reward or gift, delete the message immediately, especially if it is from Navy Federal Credit Union.

If you receive messages of this type, contact the named business to discover if the information is legitimate.
