A school crossing guard has been hit by a SUV, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The incident happened in front of Oakleaf High School around 7:12 a.m. Monday -- right before the start of classes. The driver was a 16-year-old male, authorities say.
Clay Superintendent Addison Davis said the woman received immediate medical assistance and is awake and speaking.
The woman was taken to St. Vincent's Hospital in Clay County and is said to be in good condition.
Action News Jax reporter Varisa Lall Dass has learned the woman's name is Barbara Koranda. She has been a crossing guard for eight years.
