Second straight morning with Buckman Bridge gridlock

Vehicle fire closes lanes on Buckman Bridge

Jacksonville, Fl — For a second consecutive morning, drivers out of Mandarin faced heavy delays because of a crash on the Buckman Bridge.

A vehicle fire northbound near the top of the bridge blocked multiple lanes early this morning. We are working to find out the extent of injuries.

Tuesday’s crash happened around 3:30 am. It’s not clear if the FDOT Road Ranger who rear-ended a truck will face any consequences.

Florida Highway Patrol says the 23-year-old driver of an FDOT Road Ranger rear-ended a truck. A 61-year-old driver died.

An investigation is ongoing.
