Dozens arrested in Clay County drug sweep

CLAY COUNTY, Fla. — The Clay County Sheriff's Office arrested several people in a five-month Clay County narcotics-targeting warrant sweep.

CCSO says investigators with the Intelligence-Led Policing Unit began investigating people suspected of selling pharmaceutical narcotics earlier this year. Police say the CCSO’s Strategic Response Division was then able to identify people selling pills as well as other illegal narcotics, including powder and crack cocaine, heroin, Molly and marijuana.

Investigators say 45 individuals were identified over five months as being involved in the illegal sale of narcotics, and 70 criminal cases were developed and arrest warrants were obtained.

Action News was the first to report the drug sweep Wednesday.
