JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The University of Florida and Florida State University have joined a list of other schools that have decided to cancel spring break out of concern for COVID-19 transmission.
According to UF’s website, the calendar shifts the start of the Spring semester from Jan. 5 to Jan. 11. To compensate for that, six additional instructional days would be added from March 8-13.
FSU released a message to their students that said the semester will still begin Wednesday, Jan. 6, 2021, however, the first three days of classes will be taught remotely. The university has canceled Spring Break in 2021. As a result, the semester will end Friday, April 23, 2021, a week earlier than originally planned.
Action News Jax is reaching out to local colleges to see if their spring break will continue as scheduled.
