Shooting suspect arrested after stand off with JSO

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office reported that it has arrested a shooting suspect after hours of negotiation.

At approximately 7:05 a.m. Saturday morning, JSO officers were dispatched to 3200 Rayford St. in reference to shots being fired. Upon arrival, officers learned shots were fired into an occupied dwelling from outside the residence, but no one inside was hit.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect was possibly known to the occupants, and officers were able to track down the suspect to a hotel at 7000 103rd St.

Police were only able to make contact with the suspect after several hours, as the suspect initially refused to leave the room.

Arrest and search warrants were sought while police communicated with the suspect, and the SWAT team was requested.

However, shortly after the arrival of SWAT, the suspect came out of the hotel room peacefully and willingly upon request and was safely taken into custody without incident.

The investigation is continuing at the hotel and is being led by the Violent Crimes Unit.
