Neighbors took to social media after a City of Jacksonville worker removed signs opposing the sale of JEA from their yards.
One neighbor posted on social media saying signs reading 'JEA is not for sale' and 'JEA is ours!' were removed from seven homes off Yellow Bluff Road near Marshland Drive, adding that some of the signs were 'clearly not on city easements.'

Action News Jax took their concerns to city officials to find out why the signs were removed.
A city spokesperson said the signs were placed in the right-of-way and were not in compliance with city codes.
The removal of the signs comes as the City of Jacksonville considers the sale and privatization of JEA.
JEA CEO Paul McElroy announced April 6 that he is stepping down from day-to-day operations, just a week after he took questions from City Council on the potential sale.

Full statement from COJ on removal of signs:
"These snipe signs were posted illegally in the right-of-way based on City ordinance 741.102. Municipal Code Compliance officers work seven days a week removing any snipe sign that violates City ordinance, which may include penalties as defined in ordinance 741.107."
