Southside restaurant tops Restaurant Report for second time

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A restaurant on Jacksonville’s Southside that was temporarily shut down by inspectors isn’t a stranger on the Restaurant Report.

The Dancin’ Dragon on Southside Boulevard topped the latest Restaurant Report, and it also topped it in February 2015. Action News Jax went to the eatery to ask about its latest inspection.

A health inspector shut down the restaurant after finding more than 60 live roaches, flies in the kitchen and multiple food items including, crab, fish and cream cheese held at too warm a tempertature. The manager said the pest control company had to change solutions to solve its issues.

“They treated it with a different chemical because the last chemical, maybe it didn’t work. They got used to it because they’ve been using it for two years, and they treated it with a different chemical, and it’s been resolved,” the manager said.

Dancin’ Dragon was allowed to reopen after three follow-up visits once its pest control issues were under control.

A health inspector gave Jax Royal Buffet on Normandy Boulevard 28 violations, including 20 flies on onions and no time chart in the sushi area. The health inspector issued a stop sale on chicken because of temperature violations. A follow-up inspection is needed.

At Istanbul Grill and Hookah Lounge on Southside Boulevard, an inspector found flies in dry storage, live roaches and sewage or wastewater backing up though the floor drain. A follow-up inspection is needed.
