St. Johns County asking for volunteers to help cleanup for sea turtle nesting season

ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. — Sea turtle nesting season is right around the corner. According to Sea Turtle Conservancy, the majority of nesting in Florida occurs between May 1 and Oct. 31.

St. Johns County will be holding its 20th annual Turtletown USA Beach Cleanup in preparation for the ecologically important months ahead.

The county is asking to help remove litter and debris. The annual cleanup will be on Sat., May 14 from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m.

Supplies will be provided, but the county is asking volunteers to bring a hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, closed-toe shoes, and a reusable water bottle.

  • Mickler’s Landing – CR 203, Ponte Vedra Beach
  • GTM NERR South Beach – 2200 S. Ponte Vedra Blvd, St. Augustine
  • Vilano Beach – Vilano Rd, St. Augustine
  • Crescent Beach – Cubbedge Rd, St. Augustine
  • Fort Matanzas Beach, Fort Matanzas Beach Ramp Rd, St. Augustine
