ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. — Some may spend New Year’s Day recouping from the previous night’s festivities, but for St. Johns County firefighters it was business as usual Wednesday, albeit a little busier.

St. Johns County Fire Rescue responded to three residential fires in about a 12-hour span. The most recent fire occurred at a home in the 1800 block of Cross Pointe Way located off Leo Maguire Parkway. A dog was rescued from the home. The fire, which is under investigation, started in the garage, according to a post on the department’s Facebook page.

Prior to that blaze, firefighters battled another fire at a home on Marsh Creek Drive. The department posted video of that fire on social media showing flames coming from the roof.
Hours before that, the department battled what appears to be its first house fire of the year in the 9500 block of State Road 13 North. That fire is also under investigation
