St. Johns County invites public participation in vital vulnerability assessment survey

ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. — To enhance resilience against potential impacts from flooding and sea level rise, the Florida Department of Environmental Protection’s (FDEP) Resilient Florida Program has allocated $500,000 to fund a comprehensive vulnerability assessment.

This essential project aims to help the St. Johns County community identify potential vulnerabilities, safeguard critical assets, and formulate a strategy for long-term resilience.

The vulnerability assessment, entirely funded by the FDEP Resilient Florida Program, is set to play a pivotal role in shaping the county’s future preparedness for flooding and sea level rise. Local authorities have invited the public to participate in this significant process by taking the St. Johns County Vulnerability Assessment Survey.

This survey is now live and will remain open until October 27.

The St. Johns County Vulnerability Assessment Survey provides residents with an opportunity to contribute to the development of a comprehensive strategy to protect the community from the adverse impacts of flooding and rising sea levels. This assessment will consider a range of factors, including the potential effects on structures, infrastructure, people, and natural resources.

Completing the vulnerability assessment in line with the criteria outlined in the Florida statute also makes St. Johns County eligible for additional project funding through the FDEP.
