ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. — Bartram Trail High School administration is providing more information about “two completely separate incidents” that took place at the school on Tuesday that caused panic among students and parents.
A message sent to BTHS families from Assistant Principal Parker Raimann said the first incident, an accidental lockdown, was triggered by “a staff member while working in the kitchen.”

The second incident involved “an air drop incident with an inappropriate message,” Raimann’s message said.
Raimann said “there was no threat posed in the meme that was dropped” and “the parents and student were already contacted prior to the accidental alert.”
Charges against the student were not filed and discipline was handled at the school, Raimann said.

Here is the full text of the message from Raimann that was sent to families:
“Good afternoon families,
“In light of the accidental lockdown alert yesterday we would like to clear the air and hopefully put some families at ease. All staff members carry an emergency badge which can alert administrations and first responders in the event of an emergency. This device was accidentally trigged by a staff member while working in the kitchen.
“While there was an air drop incident with an inappropriate message that occurred earlier in the day yesterday, there was no threat posed in the meme that was dropped. The parents and the student were already contacted prior to the accidental alert. No charges with the police department occurred but discipline was handled at the school level.
“These were two completely separate incidents that unfortunately occurred on the same day, causing some rumors and confusion.
“Students and staff can be commended on how they responded yesterday, quickly reporting to designated areas. After law enforcement were able to determine the alert was accidental, the school has used the alert to count as our May active assailant drill that is required monthly by the state.
“Please know that safety and security of our student body is always paramount.”
