FHP: 63-year-old woman dead after crash on I-95 in St. Johns County

ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. — A 63-year-old woman from McDonough, Georgia is dead after a crash on I-95SB at SR 16 Tuesday afternoon, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

FHP says that a 46-year-old man from Jacksonville was driving a tractor-trailer southbound on I-95, and the 63-year-old woman was also driving on I-95 southbound, in an SUV.

The driver of the tractor-trailer rear-ended the woman, causing her to travel into the center median where she hit the guardrail. She was ejected from the car, according to FHP.

Both drivers were transported to Flagler Hospital in St. Augustine for their injures.

The woman was pronounced dead at the hospital. The driver of the tractor-trailer suffered minor injuries.

FHPS is asking for people who witnessed the crash to call them at 904-695-4000.
