FHP: St. Augustine woman killed in crash on U.S. Highway 1

ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. — A crash in St. Johns County Tuesday night left one woman dead, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

Just before 11:30 p.m., a semi truck and a car were both being driven on U.S. Highway 1 approaching the intersection of Regalo Road.

The FHP report said the car was traveling behind the semi truck.

Authorities said the semi truck began to make a wide U-turn at the intersection, blocking two lanes.

FHP said the driver of the car tried to avoid a crash by moving to the right, but ultimately hit the back of the semi truck.

She died of her injuries. Troopers said she was a 23-year-old St. Augustine woman.

The 39-year-old Lakeland woman driving the semi truck was not hurt.
