ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. — A man accused of killing a woman and her father last week in Alabama was arrested in St. Augustine on Monday afternoon, according to the Helena, Alabama Police Department.
Two warrants on capital murder charges were issued Sunday for John Peyton Scott III, 41, for the homicides of Sharon Tarwater Whited, 40, and Chester E. Tarwater Jr., 75, the Helena Police Department said.

The St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office said it “received information” that Scott was believed to be traveling through the county and deputies began searching for his car.
SJSO said deputies saw Scott’s car on International Golf Parkway near Interstate 95 and performed a PIT maneuver to stop Scott’s car.
Scott “immediately surrendered,” the SJSO said, and he was booked into the St. Johns County Jail.

According to AL.com, Whited and Tarwater were found slain Wednesday afternoon when a young boy discovered his grandfather’s body in the hallway of the family’s home.
AL.com reported that Scott was Whited’s boyfriend, who was named as a person of interest by the police department.
The Helena Police Department said it is making arrangements to travel to St. Augustine.
