A witness stated they saw the Cesena 152 approach the runway just 100 feet above the ground with its wings were swaying up and down, the report said.

According to the witness, the airplane appeared to be in a ‘nose-up attitude’ before it went down and crashed at about a 45-degree angle into the runway.

The plane was engulfed in flames immediately after impact, sliding 200 feet before coming to a full stop.

The report said the cockpit and cabin instrument panel were destroyed by the fire. But also included that all components of the plane were accounted for.

The propeller was found on the runway about 45 feet from the engine, and the roadway had slash marks consistent with propeller strikes near the area of impact, the report said.

The flight was a ‘discovery flight’, which is a prospective student taking a trip with an instructor before enrolling in flight school.
