The importance of hurricane preparation cannot be overstated, and there are many things Floridians can do to get prepared.
One simple way to get a head start is to record a video walkthrough of the belongings in your home. This way, if disaster does strike, they can be more easily returned to you or covered by insurance companies. You can also do this by gathering receipts for major appliances, furniture and electronics.

People are also encouraged to create a disaster supply kit with family medical information, deeds, wills and insurance policies inside.
Likewise, it’s a good idea to invest in flood insurance. Since hurricanes and tropical storms have frequently battered and submerged homes in St. Augustine throughout the previous year, flood insurance is especially important for residents of the Ancient City.
Florida Senator Rick Scott will be discussing hurricane preparedness with law enforcement and emergency personnel Friday at 3:30 p.m. at the Market 8 Hotel & Marina.
