Support growing for the Jaguars heading into the playoffs

"It was always the Jags!" the saying made popular by Jags safety Andrew Wingard, has become the rallying cry for the team and the fans.

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — The Jacksonville Jaguars are kings of the AFC South and with playoffs here, it has the River City decked out in their colorways.

“I’ve been running around like a madman the past couple of weeks,” Kameron Mitchell said.

For local businesses like Arkives, a premium vintage and sneaker boutique, it’s been what the owner Kameron Mitchell calls beyond valuable.

“This is probably passing 300 percent at this point, it’s been pretty crazy and hectic but I love it,” he said.

The shop on Beach Blvd. had AFC South Champion shirts and sweatshirts in stock when he spoke with Action News Jax. When the Tennessee Titans came to town, he says they flew through apparel.

“We put 100 teal shirts out for the teal-out last week and they were gone within a day, so I had to go back to the warehouse and get 300 more, literally within 3 or 4 hours,” he said.

Superfans across Duval County like Jon Fichter are seeing the buzz around town, too.

“Anywhere you go you see people wearing Jaguars stuff,” he said.

He’s been collecting Jaguars memorabilia for years and has the ultimate fan cave. His recent addition is a keeper.

“I had to get it, the Trevor Lawrence issued (and signed) jersey here. Franchise quarterback, we really can’t say we’ve really had one,” he said.

Both Fichter and Mitchell know how important a winning team is.

“It’s good for the city, it’s good for the team, it’s good for everybody,” Fichter said.

“For this team to finally have some success and a buzz in this city around them, it means a lot, it’s huge and honestly I will never forget this,” Mitchell said.
