Jacksonville Jaguars legend Tony Boselli is officially in the Pro Football Hall of Fame and immortalized in bronze. It was a moment like no other for number 71 as he became the first Jaguars player to make it into the hall.
Fans from all over, including Jacksonville, made sure to witness history.
Their message to Boselli was simple, yet impactful: “Thank you, Tony.”
The Enshrinement Ceremony capped off the historic week and Boselli’s speech brought tears to fans, but also plenty of cheers. Bryen Olive created a “Thank you Tony” poster and held it up in Boselli’s honor.
“All the fans are on here. This is people from the Jacksonville area all the way up to here, I got it signed over the past two weeks,” Oliver told Action News Jax reporter Ben Ryan.
The Jags have been his ride-or-die team since the beginning.
“Very emotional being a lifelong Jaguars fan, very choked up,” he said.
Boselli gave a “Duuuval” shout in his speech and fan DeeDee Ellis said Boselli getting in is huge for the city of Jacksonville.
“He showed his love and he gave the ‘Duuuval’ that shows right there he knows how important the Jacksonville community is,” she said. “All of the fans are here, everybody has been talking about us it really says a lot about recognizing us as a great city, great fans and great players like Tony Boselli.”
For Olive, he hopes he gets to be back to Canton, Ohio soon, he said.
“This opens up the door for other guys who deserve to be in,” he said.
Fans say this is something they’ll remember for the rest of their lives.
